A podcast where you join me (Colie) as I chat about what it takes to grow a sustainable + profitable business.
CRM Guru, Family Filmmaker, and Host of the Business-First Creatives podcast. I help creative service providers grow and streamline their businesses using Dubsado, Honeybook, and Airtable.
I have started making long-form videos, mostly for my video podcast, as the main source of my content repurposing strategy. From a single 33 min recording, here are the items I created from a recent podcast episode.
NOTE: I only included the Instagram and Reel version of one clip, but I’ve actually created three short-form clips (each one with 3 versions: Reel/TikTok/Stories, Instagram Feed, and YouTube/Email).
The podcast was recorded in Riverside and all the videos (short-form and full episode) were edited in Descript. Descript will also transcribe the video to make finding the short-form clips and quotes EASY PEASY.
Clip #1
Colie: Tell me about a boundary that you have put in place that has allowed you to continue to thrive in your business and still be a great mom and a great wife?
Sabrina: Um, so there are a few things. This first answer is going to be right up your alley because it is canned email responses that I have prepared, for certain situations and they save my future self from myself.
So it is the, ‘I’m sorry, I’m not available’ canned email. Right. It is the ‘thank you for that inquiry, I don’t do that, here’s a list of people who do’ email, right?
So it’s writing those emails so that in the moment, people- pleaser Sabrina, isn’t inclined to be like, ‘I’ll just [try and make it work], you know, just, um’ so I have those things written because I know that I don’t want to shoot this thing. I don’t want to take more than two sessions a week.
I have capacities for things. And so I have a bunch of canned emails written for a bunch of different scenarios. Um, and that has served me really, really well.
Clip #2
Sabrina: The second thing is right up your alley. I hung out with a really crappy CRM for a really, really long time.
Even though I knew I needed to change and I knew I needed to change and I just didn’t want to. And I pushed back on that and it ended up being a complete pain in the ass when it was time to finally switch. So, um, that kind of goes back to what we said earlier, like trust your intuition, right? Like when, you know, it’s time to do something, just do the thing already.
Clip #3
Sabrina: I tell people that all the time, just because your business started as this ,does not mean that you are stuck there. Okay. That is the beauty of being an entrepreneur. You can literally pivot as many times as you want. Okay. Making it exactly what you want. Because you’re right, we’re not working for some crazy boss, unless you are the crazy boss.
You do not need a podcast to do with this with your own content. If you love writing a blog post or newsletter emails, you can totally chop those up for redistribution on other platforms. Are you a photographer? This might include blogging their session and then redistributing images with captions elsewhere.
