If you’ve ever struggled to deliver videos to your clients in a way that feels seamless, professional, and on-brand, you’re not alone. For years, photographers and hybrid shooters (like me!) have been juggling multiple platforms to deliver both photos and videos—and let’s be honest, it hasn’t always been pretty. But now, Pic-Time video features have changed everything.
In this post, I’ll walk you through exactly what’s new, why these updates matter, and how they can simplify your workflow while adding serious value to your client experience. Whether you’re already offering video or just starting to explore it, these tools are here to save you time, increase your revenue, and make your life a whole lot easier.
Listen, before I rave about the new video feature in Pic-Time, I have to tell you just how far we’ve come. When I started my photography business in 2012, delivering videos and slideshows to clients was a whole different ballgame. In the beginning (and I cringe a little admitting this), I used Dropbox. I’d send clients a link to a folder where they could download their photos—and if they got a Fusion slideshow (basically a few video clips woven into a slideshow), that went into the Dropbox folder too. It worked, sure, but let’s be real: Dropbox is about as far from “luxury client experience” as it gets.
I jumped around to Pro Photo gallery delivery on my website, then ShootProof, and finally landed on Pic-Time for my photo galleries. But even then, I still had to send a separate link for videos, and it drove me (and my clients) a little nuts.
For years, Vimeo was my go-to for hosting videos. I’d upload one version to share publicly (if my client gave permission) and another private version that allowed downloads. But Vimeo wasn’t perfect either—there wasn’t a way to make a public video downloadable for only certain people. Plus, it still meant clients had to click out of their gallery to download their video.
Then Pic-Time introduced embedded videos, and I thought, “Finally, some progress!” Now, clients could watch their films right inside the gallery alongside their photos. That was a big step forward, but there was still one problem: downloads. Clients would watch their video, love it, and then ask me, “Okay, Colie, how do I download this?” And I’d have to send them to Vimeo, which wasn’t exactly magical.
For years, I’ve been dreaming of a solution that brings everything together: photos and videos, beautifully presented in one place, with simple options for downloading. And FINALLY, Pic-Time has delivered exactly that.
Let’s talk about pricing before we dive into the features. If you just want to try out the video features, no need to subscribe to additional video storage initially. Most of my family films are on average 3 minutes long, while Day in the Life films are up to 10 minutes. That means on the Advanced Plan I won’t need to think about purchasing additional storage until I’ve uploaded 100+ family films or almost 30 Day in the Life films.
When you need additional storage, here is the current additional pricing (Jan. 2025)
Okay, now let’s get into the good stuff—Pic-Time’s new video features. These updates are an absolute game-changer for photographers and hybrid shooters like me who’ve been piecing together photo and video delivery with duct tape and prayers for way too long.
Here’s what’s new and why it’s about to make your life a whole lot easier.
First up, say goodbye to Vimeo. With Pic-Time’s new video features, you can now upload your videos directly to the platform. No more juggling multiple hosting services or sending clients off to another link for downloads. Everything stays inside the gallery—finally!
But here’s the part that really has me doing a happy dance: you have options. You can choose whether your clients can download their videos for free or charge for downloads if the video wasn’t included in their original package. Can you believe the upsell potential?! This isn’t just easier for you—it’s another way to boost your revenue without a ton of extra effort. There are three pricing options for videos in your Pic-Time store!
It gets better. You can now upload full-length feature films (up to 90 minutes long!) directly into the gallery. That means whether you’re delivering a full wedding film, a branding video, or a baby milestone film, it’s all in one place. These videos have been AMAZING for my clients who book me for a baby plan.
But here’s the real MVP feature: you can also upload individual 30-second clips. This is a huge win for photographers who might not be full-fledged filmmakers yet. Not ready to dive into editing a full cinematic film? No problem. Record short clips—like the kiss, the first dance, or a toddler taking their first steps—and upload them as standalone moments. Your clients get the emotional impact of video without you needing to create a full production.
For years, I’ve been telling photographers I coach to experiment with turning 10-second video clips into GIFs and adding them to galleries. (Yes, GIFs are still amazing, and I totally recommend them!) But now, instead of limiting yourself to a looping GIF, you can deliver an actual video clip—something with sound and movement—that captures those tiny-but-meaningful moments clients adore.
And you can too! Even if you aren’t delivering video to your clients (which, as you can see, I think you should be), it’s still so nice to be able to access everything from your phone. Now, you can have more video options to use in your marketing!
If you’re a photographer who also dabbles in video, these updates are about to make your life SO much easier. Everything—photos, films, and clips—can now be delivered in one gorgeous gallery.
For me, as someone who shoots both photo and video, this is huge. No more awkward back-and-forth emails about where to find what. No more fumbling through multiple platforms to create a cohesive experience. Pic-Time has finally made it easy to give clients the kind of seamless, high-end delivery experience I’ve always wanted for them.
TL;DR? These new Pic-Time features are here to save you time, keep your clients happy, and even help you make a little more money while you’re at it.
Now that I’ve made it clear I’m a FAN, let’s talk about how you can actually use these new Pic-Time video features to make your workflow smoother and your galleries even more valuable. Whether you’re brand new to video or a seasoned hybrid shooter, here are some tips to help you get the most out of these updates.
If the idea of offering video feels intimidating, let me reassure you—you don’t have to jump straight into creating full-on cinematic films. Pic-Time’s ability to upload 30-second clips is perfect for easing into the world of video.
Here’s what I tell the photographers I mentor: start with a few short clips. These little snippets don’t require editing a full film, but they add so much value for your clients.
In fact, l had a baby plan client—a mom who had booked me for multiple sessions to document her son’s first year. During her session, her little one, who had recently turned one, decided to surprise us by taking a few wobbly steps across the floor. Of course, I snapped plenty of photos, but as I watched him teeter toward his mom, something told me to switch my camera to video mode.
Those first steps? I got them. Every tiny, unsteady movement, his proud little smile, and his mom’s emotional reaction—all captured on video.
Here’s the thing: she hadn’t booked me for video. Her session was photos-only. But when I went to edit and deliver her gallery, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this clip was too special to leave on my hard drive. I decided to convert it into a GIF and add it to her gallery as a little surprise (this was before pic-time video features!).
When she saw the gallery, her reaction was everything. Out of her 20 allowed downloads, she chose the two GIFs of her son’s first steps before anything else.
One of the coolest things about these new features is how seamlessly they let you monetize video. If you’re already delivering photo galleries, why not offer short video clips as an add-on?
For example, you can:
These small upsells can add up fast, especially if you’re already shooting video during sessions. Plus, with everything housed in one gallery, you’re delivering a premium experience without losing a little magic in the delivery.
The beauty of Pic-Time’s new video features is how much easier they make delivering everything in one place.
Here’s how I use it:
The result? A delivery experience that feels effortless and luxe for both you and your clients.
Listen, I love the way that Pic-time has improved my gallery delivery, but now let’s talk about a direct benefit to taking more video for YOU. Instagram Reels and TikTok videos are huge when it comes to storytelling these days, and now with Pic-Time’s Video Delivery, you can give your clients exactly what they need to shine online (and what YOU need to advertise your vide). You can create a dedicated scene in their gallery just for social-media-ready reels, making it super easy for them to download and share their videos. More content means more ways for your clients to fall in love with your work—and bonus—it gets your name out there every time they post.
If you’ve been thinking about adding video to your services but don’t know where to start, this is the perfect time to dip your toes in. These features make it easier than ever to experiment with video without committing to the learning curve of full film production.
The Bottom Line: Start where you are. Whether it’s delivering a single GIF, experimenting with 30-second clips, or going all-in on feature films, these tools give you everything you need to elevate your client experience and open up new revenue streams. Win-win.
Let me guess—you’re sitting there thinking, “This all sounds amazing, but where do I even start with video?” I get it.
